Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa says the Province has received more than 150 investment queries following the hosting of the Luapula Expo.

Mr. Chilangwa says the investments are worth more than five billion dollars and that the investment queries are from both local and foreign investors and individuals.

He has however attributed delay in implementing the various projects to lack of industrial energy in the province.

Mr. Chilangwa says Musonda power station was upgraded from 5 to 10 megawatts but that the quantity is only enough for domestic consumption.

He said this at a press briefing on the Luapula Energy Conference to be held from 26th to 30th April 2021 in Luapula province.

Mr. Chilangwa said the Conference will among other things highlight the energy potential of Luapula province to various stakeholders and investors.

And Energy Minister Matthew Nkhuwa said the province has the largest water resources in the country , which has not been extensively exploited.

He said demand of energy in Luapula keeps raising with increased interest in mining activities, fishing, and tourism.

Mr. Nkhuwa said there is need to exploit the resources in the Province to meet demand and support several economic activities taking place in the province.

He said the Luapula water and energy week which will be officiated by President Edgar Lungu will improve knowledge and understanding of renewable energy technologies available for exploitation in the province .
