The American government has commended President Edgar Lungu for his response to curb violence among political parties.
American Charge’ d’ Affairs to Zambia David Young says his government is looking forward to seeing a peaceful and credible election .
Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Central Province Minister Sydney Mushanga in Kabwe today, Mr. Young said it is important that the law enforcement is balanced and protect the human rights of all people in the country.
He announced that the American government has been spending over 10 billion Kwacha every year to support various sectors especially health and education.
And Mr. Mushanga said President Lungu has continued to speak out and condemn violence and that the law has been applied equally.
He said all political parties, churches and civil society organisations must join in denouncing violence as the governing party has already taken the lead.
