President Edgar Lungu says government has sent invitation letters to foreign election observers ahead of the 2021 general election.
President Lungu says the invitations have been sent through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The President says political campaigns will start in earnest once Parliament is dissolved next month.
President Lungu says the country will hold peaceful and credible elections.
He said this when he received credentials from newly appointed Ambassadors from Egypt, Portugal, Greece, Turkey and Brazil.

And President Lungu has called for concerted efforts in fighting common problems such as climate change, the Covid-19 pandemic and terrorism.
The Head of State said Zambia will continue working with other like-minded countries for the common good of humanity.
And Brazilian Ambassador to Zambia Arthur Nogueira said his government wants to strengthen relations with Zambia.
He said despite the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Zambia and Brazil have continued working hard to strengthen their relations in areas such as education.
And Turkish Ambassador to Zambia Istem Circroglu said during her tenure of office she will explore other areas of cooperation between Zambia and her country.
