Government has described the late Zambian Ambassador to Turkey Joseph Chilengi as a remarkable diplomat

Government has described the late Zambian Ambassador to Turkey Joseph Chilengi as a remarkable diplomat who diligently served and contributed to the country’s development.

Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa says Dr. Chilengi provided great service to the country as can be noted by his achievements, among them facilitating the state visit of Turkey’s President to Zambia barely 6 months of him taking up the role of Ambassador to that country.

Mr. Kangwa has urged all Zambians to emulate Dr. Chilengi ‘s commitment to contributing to the country’s welfare.

The Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet has also thanked the Government of Turkey for the support rendered to the late Ambassador and facilitating the repatriation of his body.

And Dr. Chilengi’s wife, Ivy who gave tribute in a speech by her cousin Pricilla Minangu described him as a loving and caring husband who put his family first.

Meanwhile, speaking during the funeral service, Chief Ishima’s representative Kapalu Kapindula expressed sadness at the Diplomat’s death, saying the late Dr. Chilengi will be remembered for his contribution to the country and his village.

And Senior chief Ishindi ‘s representative Collins Chizawu said Dr. Chilengi will be remembered as a peace advocate and his commitment to hard work which saw him being appointed to higher office.

He also thanked both the Zambian Government and the Government of Turkey for facilitating the repatriation of the remains of Dr. Chilengi, further commending President Edgar Lungu for honouring Dr. Chilengi with a official funeral.

Meanwhile, Turkish Ambassador to Zambia Istem Circiroglu said Dr. Chilengi was instrumental in enhancing the relations between Zambia and Turkey.

And Miracle Life Family Church Associate Pastor Benjamin Moyowambuya in his sermon advised the family to trust in God through the difficult time.
