Sixteen Presidential candidates including incumbent President EDGAR LUNGU have been confirmed in the August 12 Presidential race.
This follows the filling in Thursday of Four other candidates ahead of the August 12 general elections at the Presidential nomination center in Lusaka.
The four are MMD President NEVERS MUMBA who has appointed Party Vice president – Political REUBEN SAMBO as running mate, UPPZ’s CHARLES CHAND with his running mate SIMON MBULU, and UNIP’s TREVOR MWAMBA and his running mate JOHN HARAWA.
And MMD candidate NEVERS MUMBA promised to take up late President LEVY MWANAWASA’s Legacy in his leadership if voted as President.
Dr. MUMBAwas speaking to journalists shortly after ECZ Chairperson ESAU CHULU verified his papers.
Meanwhile UPPZ Leader CHARLES CHANDA promised to look into issues affecting traditional leaders across the country.
Mr. CHANDA also pledged to give land to all citizens who have national registration cards in the country.
And UNIP candidate TREVOR MWAMBA said the country’d first ruling party is back and ready to form Government.
Bishop MWAMBA said this why he has decided to go for a youthful running mate in order to address issues affecting the youth.
