President Edgar Lungu has officially launched the PF National Campaigns ahead of the August 12 General Election, with an assurance that the ruling party will conduct issue-based campaigns.
President Lungu says in doing so, the PF will respect Christian values and principles.
Speaking during the launch in Lusaka today, the President said PF Members should tell the nation how government has reduced load shedding through increased investment in the energy sector.
He said the face of the country has changed as a result of putting up key infrastructure such as universities, hostels and roads among others.
The President said his administration has delivered visible development in all the ten provinces and transformed Zambia.
He said the PF has worked and is proud of its record.
President Lungu said the PF has also transformed the Broadcast Industry through massive investment in ZNBC.
The President said the number of Radio and Television stations has increased and that government does not interfere with their operations.
The Head of State also said his government has extended the provision of student loans to other universities and Colleges apart from the University of Zambia -UNZA- and Copperbelt University -CBU.
President Lungu said going forward, government will concentrate on reviving the country’s economy.
He said once the measures which have been put in place are implemented, the country’s economy will rebound.
Meanwhile, President Lungu has instructed the Zambia Police and Ministry of Health to ensure Covid-19 guidelines are followed.
He said this should be done without fear or favor.
President Lungu said the PF will not conduct political rallies as it asks for votes from the people.
The President said he expects other political parties to follow suit.
He said the escalating Covid-19 cases in India have been attributed to the political rallies that were held in that country.
President Lungu said it is immoral to put people at risk of contracting Covid-19 just because of elections.
Meanwhile, President Lungu said the PF administration has upheld democratic tenets, good governance and inclusive development.
The President said the rule of law and separation of powers have been the hallmark of his leadership and the PF administration.
And President Lungu has appointed PF National Chairperson Ng’onga Mukupa as national Presidential campaign manager.
Former Kabwata Member of Parliament Given Lubinda has been appointed as Vice National Presidential Campaign Manager.
The Head of state has also appointed former Housing and Infrastructure Development Minister Vincent Mwale as his campaign coordinator for Eastern Province.
Former Kasama Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba will coordinate Presidential campaigns in Northern Province while Jeston Mulando will coordinate activities in Central Province.
Former Finance Minister Katele Kalumba has been appointed to coordinate Presidential campaigns in Luapula Province while Franck Ng’ambi will be in charge of the Copperbelt.
Former Minister of Defence Davies Chama has been tasked to coordinate activities in Lusaka while Siacheyw Madyenkuku will be in charge of Southern province, with Captain Lyambela Lyambela leading Western Province.
President Lungu as also appointed former Foreign Affairs Minister Kabinga Pande to be in charge of Presidential campaigns in North Western province.
And PF National Chairperson Ng’onga Mukupa said people will vote for the PF in the General Election based on its works.
Mr.Mukupa said party structures should go on the ground to deliver votes for President Lungu.
