The international friendly match between the Shepolopolo and Mozambique women national football team, that was scheduled to take place on May 30th, 2021 has been cancelled.
Football Association of Zambia -FAZ- General Secretary Adrian Kashala says this is owing to the postponement of the African Women’s Cup of Nations -AWCON- qualifiers which were moved from June to October 2021.
Kashala says the friendly game was sanctioned so that the team could prepare for the African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi.
He told ZNBC Sports News that the offer to play Mozambique has been moved to September provided they still declare interest in the game.
Kashala has disclosed that the team will play Japan prior to the Olympics with a possible game against England still in the pipeline.
He said the game against England has lot of conditions attached to it but that the FA is working on modalities to ensure that game is played.
Kashala said the FA is in touch with FIFA to make sure that they get good international friendly games for the team ahead of the Olympic games.
