Popular musician and civil society activist Pilato has invited citizens to join him at the Constitutional Court at 0900 on 8 and 9 June 2021 in a show of solidarity with the judges ruling in the case in which Dr Sishuwa Sishuwa and Chapter One Foundation have challenged the constitutionality of the nomination of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu for the 2021 elections.
“I invite you to join me and John Sangwa SC by turning up at court to show solidarity to the men and women in wigs as they affirm the supremacy of the Constitution of Zambia. This is a historic case, and the decision of the judges will echo through generations to come,” Pilato wrote on his Facebook page.
Pilato has also commented on the recent fallout between government and doctors who have demanded the payment of salary arrears, among other items.
“We have clinics and health centres in rural areas without doctors…. but we are sending doctors to prison because they wanted to be paid,” Pilato writes.
“There is money for every rubbish thing as long as it’s for the benefit of the party and it’s president…. BUT when it comes to things for the public good, ati there is no money,” he continued.
“The money to pay cadres masquerading as contractors is available at any time as long as they promise to give some money for the campaigns but when Doctors ask for what they deserve, you send cops to arrest them. Tukamonako,” he concluded.
