Government will this week conclude the recruitment exercise of the Seven Hundred and 88 Health workers.
Health Permanent Secretary Technical Services KENNEDY MALAMA has urged the Health personnel who will be recruited to be patriotic and professional.
Dr. MALAMA disclosed this during the COVID-19 press briefing in Lusaka today.
He also disclosed that the country will on June 21st receive an additional one hundred and 8 thousand doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine that will be administered on June 23rd as a second to those that received the first vaccine.
Dr. MALAMA said those that did not take part in the first phase of rolling out the vaccine will receive the first dose.
He said the country will also receive Hundred thousand doses of Sinopharm.
Dr. MALAMA has also called on the Church and Corporate leaders to heighten sensitisation on COVID-19 guidelines.
He said Zambia is likely to reach 5-hundred admissions as the country keeps recording more cases and an estimated 3 Hundred of the figure expected to be on Oxygen.
Dr. MALAMA said the country has in the last 24 hours recorded 1-thousand 2-hundred and 31 new confirmed cases out of the 10-thousand 1-hundred and 15 tests conducted.
He said the country has also recorded 6 COVID-19 deaths and COVID-19 associated deaths.
And Ministry of Health Director Infectious Diseases LLOYD MULENGA said schools are also recording COVID-19 cases but stated that the symptoms are mild in children and no death recorded.
Dr. MALAMA also launched the Standards and assessment tools for Water, Sanitation and Health -WASH- in health facilities.
