Inspector General of Police, Kakoma Kanganja, has advised police officers in Livingstone to always be on high alert.
Mr. Kanganja says Livingstone’ status as a Tourist Capital and a transit point for goods and vehicles, calls for heightened public order and safety of the locals and foreign nationals.
He has also implored police officers in the district to create strong bonds and intensify joint operations with the local authority to ensure compliance to the Covid-19 health guidelines by casinos, bar and nightclub owners.
Mr. Kanganja says it is the responsibility of the police to effectively apply and enforce the existing laws so that members of the public can adhere to the interventions put in place by the government.
He said this, yesterday, in a meeting with police officers in Livingstone district, as he wound up his tour of Southern province, where he was inspecting the Police Service’s preparedness in policing the 2021 General Election,.
And speaking at the same meeting, Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Charles Lungu, said political parties in Livingstone have demonstrated that it is possible to conduct peaceful campaigns.
Mr. Lungu has however assured the public in the area of peace and police protection before, during and the August 12, 2021 General Election.
