Vice President Inonge Wina says Muchinga Province occupies a special place in the history of Zambia as First President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda’s place of birth.
Mrs. Wina says Muchinga must be revered as it has produced Dr .Kaunda who is ZAMBIA’s First President .
She has also acknowledged Dr. Kaunda for having left a legacy of love, unity and patriotism and better life for all.
Mrs. Wina says Dr. Kaunda established and built various companies and institutions with a quest to improve the livelihood of the Zambian people.
She cited the establishment of TAZARA railway line and TAZAMA pipelines that contributed greatly to the development of the transport sector.
Mrs. Wina was speaking at Chinsali’s Lubwa school ground during the Church Service to mark the tour of Dr. Kaunda’s body in Muchinga Province.
She also said Dr. Kaunda put a premium on the agriculture and constructed various storage sheds to boost food security and marketing if crops such as maize.
Meanwhile United Church of Zambia Muchinga Presbytery Bishop Festus Chulu urged Zambians to reflect and uphold the legacy of love which Dr. Kaunda stood for.
Bishop Chulu said Dr. Kaunda was a servant of the Lord who had a place in his heart to always love GOD.
And, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda’s son Dr. Waza Kaunda thanked President Edgar Lungu for the support rendered to Dr. Kenneth Kaunda both during his life and death.
Dr. Kaunda said President Edgar Lungu often checked on his father when he was alive .
He also thanked Vice President Inonge Wina for being with the Kaunda family throughout the Provincial tours of Dr. Kenneth Kaunda’s funeral across the country.
On the other hand traditional leaders in Muchinga described Dr. Kenneth Kaunda as a minister of peace not only for Zambia but the entire African Continent.
Chief Lundu of Chama district who spoke of behalf of all traditional leaders in Muchinga urged political players to uphold peace as the country holds the August 12th general election.
