Green Economy and Environment Minister Collins Nzovu says the creation of his ministry will ensure the preservation of the environment while addressing social and economic development.
Mr. Nzovu, who was speaking when British High Commissioner to Zambia Nicolas Wolley paid a courtesy call on him at his office, said the British government has supported various programs for Zambia to address climate change.
He said climate smart agriculture is also among areas of cooperation.
Mr. Nzovu said the COP 26 United Nations Climate Change Conference to be hosted by Britain from October 31st to 12 November 2021, will provide an opportunity for Zambia to learn from other countries on the effects to mitigate climate change.
He said the conference will present an opportunity for Zambia and other developing countries to lobby for resources to enable them contribute effectively to mitigating the effects of climate change.
And Mr. Wolley said his government shares the same aspirations with Zambia in addressing the impact of climate change.
