President Hakainde Hichilema says there is need to reconstruct the economy so that the country can support the social sectors.
President Hichilema says his Government has set the agenda and will remain focused to reconstruct the economy because doing so will enable the country create jobs and support the health and education sectors.
He said this in an interview shortly after arriving at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
This follows his visit to the United States of America where he was attending the United Nations General Assembly and meeting various stakeholders among them the International Monetary Fund -IMF.
President Hichilema said his participation in the General Assembly was aimed at advancing the interests of Zambians.
He said the country was well represented adding that citizens will soon see the benefits.
The head of state further said the meetings held were strategic as Zambia managed to generate good will from the international community.
He said it is therefore important that the Zambian people exploit the good will received from the international community to their benefit.
President Hichilema said his Government will also ensure credibility is returned to Zambia as he continues to raise the bar.
And President Hichilema said his Government will provide political will to law enforcement agencies to enable them carry out their duties professionally.
The Head of State noted that he understands the anxiety among Zambians because their resources were taken from them.
