President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says the life of the late former cabinet minister SIMON ZUKAS should serve as a reminder to Zambians on the need to put service above self.

President HICHILEMA says the life of Mr. ZUKAS is one that was dedicated to service and was demonstrated through his commitment to serve humanity.

He notes that the political contribution of the Mr. ZUKAS remains unmatched and should serve as a reflection to many.

President HICHILEMA was speaking during the burial of Mr. ZUKAS at the memorial park in Lusaka.

He said his meeting with the Veteran Politician last month was evident that he did not retire from serving the community even under the Our Civic Duty Association -OCIDA- which he formed in 2020.

The President said his Government will continue to work with its partners and citizens to grow democracy and rule of law.

AND President HICHILEMA said serving others will be attainable when there is economic success which entails creating opportunities for all.

The head of state also presented the Zambian flag to Mrs. ZUKAS.

MEANWHILE, OCIDA representative GILBERT TEMBA urged President HICHILEMA to uphold good governance, promote inclusiveness and develop social programmes in honor of Mr. ZUKAS.

AND, honorary consul of the state of ISREAL in Zambia SINYA MBALE said Mr. ZUKAS’s contribution to the Jewish community and surrounding countries was fundamental.

In a tribute, the son of Mr. ZUKAS, DAVID thanked Government for granting his father a state funeral.

Mr. ZUKAS died at the age of 96 and has left behind his wife CYNTHIA, two children and grandchildren.
