Tourism Minister RODNEY SIKUMBA says his ministry will improve conditions of service for staff in the Department of National Parks and wildlife.
Mr. SIKUMBA says once employees are given better working conditions, they will no longer be at risk of accepting bribes.
He says the Ministry will ensure members of staff are protected against poachers adding that a platform will be provided to discuss ways in which to preserve wildlife.
Mr. SIKUMBA was speaking after conducting a familiarization tour at the Department of National Parks and wildlife in Chilanga today.
The Minster said departments under the Ministry will have to show how much revenue they can contribute to the treasury considering that the new regime is revenue-centric.
And Mr. SIKUMBA who also toured Munda Wanga Sanctuary and Botanical Garden called on the directorate in Charge of running the facility to explore the wide potential that the place has to attract more tourists.
Munda Wanga Sanctuary and Botanical Garden area warden WILFRED MOONGA disclosed that an average of 1-point 5 million kwacha is generated from the influx of local tourists who visit every year.
MEANWHILE, Department of National Parks and wildlife Director CHUMA SIMUKONDA called on the Minster to give a position on whether employees in uniform under the department are civil servants or under the Defence wings.
