Government is concerned with the slow pace at which the Chipata-Lundazi road is being constructed.

Shachitari constructions was in 2020 engaged to work on a 90 kilometer part of the road, including reconstructing the collapsed Lundazi and Musuzi bridges at an initial cost of 360 million Kwacha.

Inspecting the road, Eastern province minister PETER PHIRI said he is not impressed with the pace at which the project is being implemented, with only about 30 kilometers completed so far.

He is, however, impressed with the quality of the works done on the 30 kilometer stretch.
