The United States government says it has renewed its confidence in Zambia’s health investments and other areas of cooperation following the recent signature visit to the White House by President Hakainde Hichilema.

Incoming U.S Embassy Charge D’Affaires Martin Dale says Washington is also pleased with the renewed bilateral ties between the two countries symbolized by President Hichilema’s visit to the White House.

Mr. Dale says the landmark visit has further reinforced cooperation in the areas of health, education, economic prosperity and development, regional stability and peace.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Health Minister Sylvia Masebo, Mr. Dale said the US Government will continue rendering support towards the COVID-19 response.

And Ms. Masebo commended the U.S government for being an all-weather partner in providing technical and financial support to the health sector.

She further appealed to the US government for more support especially in the provision of essential medicines and medical supplies.

The Minister however disclosed that the new dawn government intends to decentralize the COVID-19 vaccination campaign re-launch across all structures to facilitate for more citizens to get vaccinated as the country faces the possible fourth wave.

The Minister expressed optimism that more people will turn up for the vaccines adding that no vaccines will go to waste.
