Chingola road into a dual carriageway at a cost of 2-hundred and 50 million United States dollars will commence in February next year.
Government has contracted a local firm, Bert Pave and Maintenance Limited to undertake the works on the 1-hundred and 68 kilometre stretch.
The firm has also sub-contracted Chabwela Investments to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment before works could commence.
Company chairperson, Robert Mbuzi disclosed this development during a stakeholder’s consultative meeting held in Solwezi at the Boma conference hall.
Mr. Mbuzi said the initial works on the project are expected to start on February 9, 2022.
He said about 4-hundred local people will be employed during the execution of the road project.
Mr. Mbuzi said under the contract, the firm will be carrying out road maintenance works for 30 years.
He revealed that the scope of work will also include upgrading the road from Solwezi town to Mutanda.
