The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban development has engaged various stakeholders to address the housing crisis in the country.

Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban acting permanent secretary RICHARD BANDA says the ministry is focusing on urban and rural areas.

Dr. BANDA says housing is a human right which Government has prioritized.

He was speaking when he received a petition from the People’s Process on Housing and Poverty in Zambia- PPHPZ in Lusaka today.

PPHPZ and its alliance partner the Zambia Homeless and Poor People’s Federation ZHPPF presented a petition for Government to address the housing crisis in the country.

And PPHPZ programs coordinator MELANIE CHIRWA said the amount of money allocated for housing development in the 2022 national budget is insufficient to meet the needs in the housing sector.

Ms. CHIRWA further appealed to Government to consider increasing the allocation towards the sector.
