Information and Media Minister CHUSHI KASANDA says government is taking resources to the people through the allocation of Constituency development fund -CDF- so that they can decide and implement their own developmental priorities.
Ms. KASANDA says key in the proposed 2022 national budget is the increase in the CDF from 1-point 6 million to 25 point 7 million kwacha.
The minister was speaking in Lusaka today when she opened a media engagement workshop for media institutions on the role of the media in national planning and Budgeting and the involvement of citizens.
Ms. KASANDA urged the media to change the narrative of budget coverage by tracking the implementation process.
And Zambia Council for Social Development Board Chairperson MAHAMBA CHIPUTA said media engagement is cardinal to promote accountability of budget processes through community engagement.
Mr. CHIPUTA said ordinary citizens should be informed of how to participate in budget processes and track the utilisation of funds.
