The 2022 Australian Open women’s singles final will be played between top seed Ashleigh Barty and world no. 27 seed Danielle Collins.
Collins from the US eliminated Polish no. 7 Iga Swiatek 6-4, 6-1 in semifinals at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Thursday.
Swiatek, 20, previously stunned tennis authorities after winning her first and only Grand Slam title in the 2020 French Open (Roland Garros).
In the post-match interview, Collins, 28, said that she is delighted to play her maiden Grand Slam final in Melbourne.
“It feels amazing. It has been such a journey… It is so many years of hard work,” Collins said.
“It is incredible to be on this stage, especially after all the health challenges… I couldn’t be happier,” she added.
The 2022 Australian Open women’s final will be held on Saturday.
