Flanker Hamish Watson tested positive for the coronavirus and was withdrawn from the Scotland side facing France on Saturday in the Six Nations.

Scotland was reshuffled on Friday, with Nick Haining promoted from the reserves to the back row.

Saracens’ Andy Christie was brought in and could make his test debut from the reserves. Christie represented England Under-20s in 2019 and qualified for Scotland through grandparents.

Watson’s absence at Murrayfield is a blow to Scotland’s chances of upsetting the title favorite.

Watson hasn’t missed a tackle in the championship since 2019, running up 180 straight. He’s also the team’s second leading ball-carrier in this campaign.

Two of the team’s staff also were positive for the virus and forced to isolate.
