Lands and Natural Resources Minister, ELIJA MUCHIMA says the Ministry will soon embark on a land audit exercise in Chibombo District of Central Province, Kitwe and Chingola on the Copperbelt province.
Mr. MUCHIMA says the exercise will be done in phases across the country.
He disclosed that government is concerned that in CHIBOMBO District, some headmen are selling land a situation he described as unfortunate.
Mr. MUCHIMA explained that land should not be sold to foreigners at the expense of ordinary Zambians.
He told ZNBC News in an interview that government want to put in place a system that will allow all Zambians to own land as long as they apply for it.
And, Mr. MUCHIMA has disclosed that his Ministry is engaging the Ministry of Finance for construction of a modern registry at the Ministry Headquarters.
Mr MUCHIMA said this will address issues of missing vital documentation at the Ministry of Lands.
