Cabinet has approved the publication and introduction of The Investment, Trade and Business Development Bill, 2022 in Parliament during the next sitting.
The Bill seeks to among others, foster economic growth and development by promoting trade business development and investment in the country through an efficient and well coordinated private sector led economic development strategy.
Cabinet has also approved the publication and introduction of The Zambia Development Agency Bill, in Parliament during the next sitting.
The objectives of the Bill are to continue the existence of the Zambia Development Agency and redefine its functions.
Cabinet is of the view that the ZDA Act No. 11 of 2006 is inadequate in addressing issues pertaining to the functions, administration and governance of the Zambia Development Agency.
This is due to its expanded mandate of promoting and facilitating trade, investment and enterprise development in the country which sometimes overlaps with other laws.
During the Meeting yesterday, Cabinet also approved an eight member Board of the Zambia Environmental Management Agency in accordance with Part II, Section 11 of the Environmental Management Act No. 12 of 2011.
Meanwhile, Cabinet was elated with the lead taken by Zambian sportsmen and women for making the country proud at international competitions.
This is according to a statement made available to ZNBC News by Chief Government Spokesperson CHUSHI KASANDA.
