A murder investigation has today been launched after a cyclist was chased down and killed after being involved in a crash with a car.

Detectives say four males got out of the car and launched a fatal attack on the 21-year-old cyclist following the crash in Cippenham, in Slough.

The four men then got back into the vehicle, believed to be a black Volkswagen Golf, and fled the scene.

Paramedics were called and attempted to save the cyclist, who suffered serious injuries in the attack. However police say the man died at the scene.

Officers from Thames Valley Police have today described the incident as ‘shocking’ and say they are launching a murder investigation.

‘Details at this very early stage are limited, including descriptions of the offenders.

‘It is therefore incredibly important that we hear from anyone who witnessed any part of this incident.

‘ If you saw the offence itself, or if you saw a black VW Golf driving in the area prior to or after the incident, please get in touch.’

Police say the incident took place around 8.50pm on Tuesday. Officers received a report that a male had been seriously injured in Waterman Court, Cippenham.

Officers attended the scene where it was established that a 21-year-old man had been in a collision on his bicycle with a car in Earls Lane.

Police say that, after the collision, approximately four males exited the Golf and chased the male into Waterman Court where he was fatally attacked. The men then left the scene in the black VW Golf.

Officers say the vehicle may well have damage as a result of the collision.

They are also ‘particularly interested’ in hearing from anyone who has dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell footage which could be relevant.

Detective Chief Inspector Howard added: ‘Our officers are at the scene and will remain so while our investigation continues.

‘I appreciate that a serious incident such as this may create a lot of concern in the community, but a detailed and thorough investigation is underway and at this time there is no indication that there is any wider risk to the public.

‘If any members of the local community do have concerns please speak to one of our officers at the scene.

‘If you have any information that you think could help us, please call 101, quoting reference number 20221002-1905.’

The death of the cyclist comes on the same weekend two bodies were discovered in the same park in Slough.

Detectives from the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Team were called to Baylis Park in Slough, on Saturday, after the body of a 65-year-old man was discovered.

His death is being treated as ‘unexplained but not suspicious’.

On Sunday, a second body, that of a man aged in his 40s, was found just yards away from where the first body was discovered.

Police are not yet sure if the two deaths are linked and it is not currently believed that the incidents are related to the death of the cyclist.

Detective Chief Inspector Howard, speaking following the discovery of the second body, said: ‘We are working to find out what links the deaths of these two men. It may be that the deaths, while tragic, are not deemed to be suspicious.

‘However, the fact that two bodies have been found in close proximity to each other, in a short period of time, means that we need to establish the exact circumstances.

‘While these incidents will no doubt cause concern to people in and around Slough, I’d like to reassure people that we are conducting a full and thorough investigation.

‘I would like to reiterate that at this stage that these deaths are being treated as sudden and unexplained.

‘There is a great deal of work to do to find out exactly what has happened and whether there is any link at all between these deaths. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to approach officers at the scene.’
